Did you know that December 20th is National Sangria Day? It is!
Grab your friends and make a big pitcher of Spain's favorite treat...Sangria!
Sangria is a punch traditionally made from red wine, chopped fruit, and occasionally spirits. It can be traced back to the Middle Ages, during a time when water was unhealthy to drink and drinking fermented beverages carried a much lower risk of causing illness. Sangria remained a drink of choice in Spain and became popular in other parts of Europe. It first made it's appearance in America when it was served in New York at the Spanish World Area during the 1964 World's Fair and we haven't looked back!
Although, Sangria is traditionally made with red wine, there are many variations that can be found around Spain and Europe. It's not uncommon to find Sangria made from Cava (a Spanish sparkling wine), Prosecco (an Italian sparkling wine), brandy, rosé, or white wine. Of course, here at KABAKI, our favorite ingredient to add to our Sangria...yep, you guessed it...purple tea!
Celebrate National Sangria Day and make all your friends say, "WOW" with this recipe for KABAKI Berry Sangria.
